Your Voice DNA file is a set of instructions that tells Claude exactly how to write in your voice. Once it's built, you attach it to any Claude Project and every piece of content Claude writes for you sounds like you, not like a generic AI assistant.

This guide got a full rewrite, and two things changed:

1. It's built for Claude's newest models. The Claude 5 family actually holds to a rules file instead of needing constant reminding. That changes the goal: you don't need a long, perfect document anymore. You need a short, honest one with real samples and hard rules. This template is built for that.
2. The file tests itself now. The old template described your voice and stopped there. This one ships with a built-in test kit: a first assignment, a self-check Claude runs before showing you any draft, the training loop, and a corrections log that grows every time you fix something. You used to have to come back to this page to train your hire. Now the file carries its own onboarding plan.

How to build yours

Step 1: Download the blank template below.

Step 2: Open a new Claude conversation and upload it. Then pick your path:

• The interview path. Copy the interview prompt below, paste it in, and answer the questions one section at a time.
• The memory path. If you've been using Claude with memory on, say: "Fill out sections 1 through 6 of this template from what you already know about me, then interview me on whatever's missing." You'll go from blank file to correction pass in about two minutes, and correcting a draft is way easier than starting cold.

Step 3: Answer honestly. If you're on the Claude mobile app, turn on voice mode and talk your answers out. Your spoken answers sound more like you than your typed ones, and this file runs on the unfiltered version of you.

Step 4: When Claude generates your completed file, download it as a .md file and attach it to a Claude Project. Then give it the first assignment. It's already written into your file, section 7.
